Vaisala Xweather delivers real-time air quality data to drivers of BMW Group cars worldwide
Vaisala Xweather's air quality monitoring technology is now integrated into the BMW Group's new X1, X2, and 2 Series Active Tourer models, as well as MINI and MINI Countryman vehicles. This integration allows real-time air quality data to be displayed through the OS9 infotainment system, which is currently being launched in the UK and will soon be available globally.
Xweather's air quality monitoring system will provide drivers with up-to-date information about air quality conditions throughout their journey. This data will be easily accessible through the vehicle's infotainment system, empowering drivers to make informed decisions about their driving routes and indoor air circulation to protect their health.
Real-time Xweather air quality data is now available in the new BMW X1, X2, and 2 series, as well as MINI and MINI Countryman, through the new iDrive9 infotainment system.
"This partnership with the BMW Group is a game-changer for drivers," said Petri Marjava, Head of Automotive at Vaisala Xweather. "It's about giving drivers more control over their health and safety on the road. With real-time air quality data, BMW drivers can choose cleaner routes and avoid polluted areas, keeping their lungs healthy and their commutes smoother."
Air pollution is a serious health concern worldwide, affecting millions of people—especially those with pre-existing respiratory conditions. With BMW’s commitment to innovation, drivers will now have access to real-time air quality data, giving them the ability to make informed choices to protect their health.
"We're aware that air pollution is a silent threat, often invisible to the naked eye," continued Marjava. "This partnership is about empowering drivers to take charge of their air quality and make informed decisions about their driving habits. With this technology, your daily commute doesn't have to be a health risk."
This partnership is just the beginning; real-time air quality data will initially be integrated into the new X1, X2, 2 Series Active Tourer, MINI, and MINI Countryman models, with plans to expand to other vehicles as the OS9 infotainment system rolls out further.
Xweather's air quality forecasts are powered by advanced physical modeling techniques, long-range dispersion models, machine learning, and weather and environmental data, ensuring the most accurate and up-to-date information for drivers. BMW’s trust in Xweather's weather data has proven to be a wise decision, and the addition of real-time air quality data further solidifies their partnership.
This exciting collaboration between Xweather and the BMW Group will not only improve the health and safety of drivers but also demonstrate the transformative power of real-time air quality monitoring technology in the automotive industry.
