At Vaisala Xweather, we're committed to providing the renewable energy industry with the most accurate and comprehensive data available. That's why we're excited to introduce our new renewable energy dataset. Available through Xweather Flex subscriptions via the Xweather API, this is a first-of-its-kind offering that will assist in revolutionizing renewable energy operations.

Our new energy/farm endpoint provides energy output data for wind and solar energy-producing sites across the US and Canada. The endpoint delivers estimated observations and forecasted energy output, providing crucial insights for various applications within the renewable energy industry.

Here are some key benefits and use cases of this API endpoint:

1. Accurate forecasting: The endpoint provides an hourly forecast from the current time out to ten days, allowing energy farms to optimize their operations and plan based on predicted energy output.

2. Real-time observations: Up to 24 hours of estimated energy output data is available in 5-minute intervals, providing a detailed picture of the energy farm's performance.

3. Easy integration: The data is available to all API subscribers that enable the Renewables Add-on, integrating seamlessly with existing operations. This new data set is accessible with a small fee for each energy farm queried monthly, with additional queries for the same farm at no additional cost.

To illustrate, here is an example of querying the endpoint:

This API request will return the forecast power output for the Wilton Wind farm in the SPP region.

To obtain the past 24 hours of observations, utilize the from and to parameters. For example:

We provide the Energy Farm Finder on our website and within the client dashboard to obtain the proper URL for an energy farm. This tool allows users to quickly view the available energy farms, offering details on the farm and quick links to access the data via the API.

Whether you are involved in siting and forecasting, energy trading, or regulatory compliance, this new dataset provides the insights you need to make informed, data-driven decisions.

As we continue to innovate and expand our services, we are proud to support the growth of sustainable energy with our Renewables Add-On. We're excited to see how our clients leverage this new data to drive the renewable energy industry forward.
